REGULATORY EXPERIENCE. INDEPENDENT PERSPECTIVE.
Insight.
Experience.
Perspective.
The value of perspective
Jeff Trendel brings a former regulator’s perspective to continuing care advisory work, training, and education.
That perspective draws on an uncommon combination of experience. Jeff licensed and regulated continuing care providers, reviewed their filings, analyzed their financial condition, and led both the task force and the drafting of North Carolina’s revised continuing care retirement communities law.
Jeff can explain in plain terms what regulators look for in filings and financial reports, which warning signs deserve a closer look, and what boards can ask management when those signs raise questions about the provider’s ability to keep its promises to residents. That perspective can help boards and executives act on concerns earlier and give residents and associations better questions to bring to the discussion.
Jeff spent nearly three decades with the North Carolina Department of Insurance. Financial analysis was central to his work, from his time as a financial analyst through his 21 years as Deputy Commissioner.
Trendel also offers education and support for resident associations, policy briefings and member education for trade associations, and training and regulatory development support for state agencies.

02 / WORKING TOGETHER
Work through the issue together.
Jeff will work with you to define the service you need and agree on what a useful result would look like. That shared understanding guides the work from the first conversation through delivery.
- Jeff will ask questions to understand the issue, what you need, and how you plan to use the result.
- Jeff will follow up as the work progresses to check his understanding and confirm that the work is addressing what you need.
- Jeff will explain the results, discuss what they mean for you, and ask for feedback on whether the work answered your questions or achieved the goal you set together.
